FICA

FICA or Federal Insurance Contributions Act is the tax withheld from each paycheck that pays for Social Security and Medicare. It is collected by your employer and forwarded in your name to the IRS. Your employer pays additional funds into the accounts in your name as the employer's portion of the tax.
