Company Description

The Fisher Scientific division is a leading laboratory supply house with offices in many major cities. They provide lab equipment and reagents to laboratories at schools, universities, and chemical companies and other industrial labs. They also supply clinical laboratories at hospitals with materials and equpment to run medical lab tests.

In this field, Fisher competes with VWR Scientific and AH Thomas. In laboratory chemicals, Sigma-Aldrich is a competitor as is the Mallinckrodt-Baker division of Covidien.

Products include analytical instruments, laboratory automation and robotics, consumables for life science research, laboratory chemicals, diagnostics, lab equipment, lab furniture, and software.

In 2011, Thermo Fisher acquired Dionex.
