Company Description

Chlor-Alkali includes chlorine (largest US merchant supplier), caustic soda (third largest supplier in North America), bleach (sodium hypochlorite, largest producer of industrial bleach in North America), potassium hydroxide (second largest producer in the US), hydrochloric acid, and hydrogen.

Chemical Distribution. In 2012 acquired KA Steel, a distributor of caustic soda, chlorine, bleach, hydrochloric acid and potassium hydroxide. The company has distribution centers throughout the northeast and midwest from Maine to North Dakota plus a few in Oregon, Texas, Louisiana, and South Carolina.

In 2015, Dow announced the sale of its chlor-alkali business (including vinyl, chlorinated organics and epoxy resins) to Olin for a combination of cash and stock. Olin will be come the largest chlor-alkali producer. Dow shareholders will receive Olin stock, and Dow will own 50.5% of Olin and have three seats on its board of directors. OxyChem division of Occidental Petroleum is a major competitor in this business. Axiall is third largest US producer.

Winchester: Products include sporting ammunition, reloading components, small caliber military ammunition and components, and industrial cartridges
