Salaried employee

A salaried employee is paid a salary as compensation for his work. The salary is often paid by the month. Salaried employees are usually exempt from overtime laws.

Expanded Definition

In contrast, a waged employee is paid wages by the hour and is non-exempt. He must be paid overtime under overtime laws.
