Peter Lynch

Peter Lynch is a best-selling investment author and for 13 years served as the manager of the Fidelity Magellan Fund (1977-1990).

Expanded Definition

Lynch's best-known book is One Up on Wall Street, a great read for new investors, though its references are now somewhat dated. Perhaps the most famous lesson from the book was encouraging investors to use their own experiences with the products and services they use in their own lives to help direct their investment ideas.

In 1977, Lynch was named head of the Fidelity Magellan Fund and managed $18 million in assets. By the time Lynch retired (1990), the fund had grown its asset base to $14 billion.
