Nick Leeson

Nick Leeson is a former derivatives trader whose unsupervised speculative trading caused the collapse of Barings Bank, the United Kingdom's oldest investment bank.

Expanded Definition

To be fair, Leeson left a note reading "I'm Sorry", subsequentally fleeing when losses eventually reached £827 million, twice the bank's available trading capital. It is speculated that despite having left this heartfelt message, it just didn't cut it for those who lost their jobs and savings. Nonetheless it was nice that he left it.

In June of 2005, Leeson released a new book Back from the Brink: Coping with Stress.

He is currently Secretary of Irish football club Galway United[1].
