Mitsubishi Rayon makes chemicals (methyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid and esters, acrylonitrile, acrylamide, EDTA, ASDA, acetontrile), plastics (acrylic sheets, films, and molding resin, ABS, Dupont Corian, plastisols, paint resins, uv curable coatings, plastic optical fiber, carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin, and polyester resin for toners), fibers (acrylic, polyester, acetate, and polypropylene), carbon fibers and composites, and water treatment (hollow fiber membranes, polyacrylamide flocculants).
In 2015, Mitsubishi Rayon announced plans to build a carbon fiber composites plant at Vilshofen, Germany. The plant will make sheet molding compound for the automotive market.
