Foot Locker

Foot Locker (NYSE: FL) is a retailer of athletic footwear and apparel, through its subsidiaries, operates in two reportable segments - Athletic Stores and Direct-to-Customers.

Company Description

Foot Locker is the successor to FW Woolworth (Ticker Z) the famous dime store chain. As the dime store era began to fade, first with the popularity of discount stores and later big box stores, Woolworth found it necessary to reinvent itself (just as SS Kresge became K-Mart). They experimented with a series of new retail formats, and finally settled on the Foot Locker discount shoes formula.
