DEERE & COMPANY (NYSE: DE) was founded in 1837 by one man, John Deere, a blacksmith who originally set up shop in Grand Detour, Illinois. It has grown be a world wide company now headquartered in Moline, Illinois.

Deere & Company serves three major areas including agricultural equipment, commercial & consumer equipment, construction & forestry equipment. As a fourth area, they offer credit services to those buying their new and used equipment.

They manufacture a complete line of equipment in those area plus related service and parts.

The company is also investing in wind farms. In August, 2010, the company announced the sale of its wind energy business to Exelon.
