Buckminsterfullerene
Buckminsterfullerene refers to a molecule composed entirely of carbon that is in the shape of a hollow sphere, tube, or ring. It is named after the architect of the geodesic dome, Buckminster Fuller, because its hollow-core construction resembles the dome's shell. Its unique shape provides excellent strength and stability on the nano scale. Also known as buckyball or fullerene.
